Camera Systems & Surveillance

Camera systems end to end: placement calculated for real sight lines, PoE runs pulled and terminated, and an NVR sized for the retention you actually need rather than the figure on the box. We survey, install, aim and commission, then show you how to pull footage before we leave.

Scope

From one position to a whole estate

Most camera systems fail at the only moment they are needed. The footage exists, and the face is eleven pixels wide; or the camera was aimed at the till and the door is out of frame; or it recorded over the incident four days later because retention was set for a smaller array. None of that is a hardware problem — it is a siting and specification problem, decided months earlier by whoever mounted the camera where the cable already was.

  1. 01

    Up to eight cameras

A shop, a clinic, a small office. One or two days including the pull, with an NVR sized to the retention you actually need rather than the one on the box.

  2. 02

    Nine to forty cameras

A floor, a warehouse, a multi-tenant building. Surveyed first, because past eight cameras the difference between a good plan and a bad one is several thousand dollars of cable.

  3. 03

    Multi-site

Several locations viewed and retained together, with consistent siting and naming so footage from any site is found the same way.

How it runs

In the order the work happens

The sequence matters more than the list. Most of what goes wrong on these jobs traces back to a step skipped early rather than to the work itself.

  1. 01

    Survey before anything is specified

What has to be identifiable versus merely detectable, where the light comes from at different times of day, what the ceiling and the pathways will actually allow, and where the recorder can live. Lens and mounting height come out of that, rather than the other way round.

  2. 02

Size the recorder against real retention

Camera count, resolution, frame rate, codec and how many days you need to keep, worked through properly — the same arithmetic our public camera storage calculator does. An array that holds thirty days at the resolution quoted is a different purchase from one that holds four.

  3. 03

    Pull, terminate, and mount

Cable run on proper pathway and labelled at both ends, terminations tested, cameras mounted to the survey. PoE budget is checked against the switch rather than assumed, because a camera that reboots at night is usually a power problem wearing a network costume.

  4. 04

    Aim, verify, and hand over

Every camera aimed and checked against what it was specified to see, at day and at night. You get the credentials, the layout, the retention figure, and a walkthrough of how to pull footage — which is the part that matters when somebody has to do it under pressure.

What you get

What is actually delivered

  • Camera placement and field-of-view planning
  • PoE cable runs, termination, and testing
  • NVR/VMS setup sized to your retention window
  • Camera aiming verified against what it was specified to see
  • Remote viewing, alerting, and a handover walkthrough

Not this

What we do not do here

Stating this is what makes the rest of the page worth believing, and it saves you a call that was never going to end in work.

  • Monitoring. We install and hand over; we do not watch the feeds, and we are not an alarm response company.
  • Access control. Readers, strikes, controllers and door hardware are not something we take on — cameras are the whole of this line.
  • Line-voltage electrical work. Power for a recorder or a PoE switch is a licensed electrician's job in New York and we coordinate one rather than doing it.
  • Alarm systems and life-safety. Intrusion alarms, fire alarm and emergency egress are licensed trades in New York and are not ours.

Questions

Before you call

How many days of footage will we keep?
Whatever you specify, and we size the storage to it before quoting rather than after. Retention is the number people discover is wrong, so it is the number we agree first — our camera storage calculator does the same arithmetic if you want to check ours.
Can you use our existing cameras?
Often, if they are ONVIF-conformant and the cabling is sound. We will tell you which of them are worth keeping and which are costing you the incident you bought them for.
Will the footage be usable as evidence?
That depends on siting more than on price. We specify to a stated identification distance so a face at the door is actually resolvable, and we will tell you plainly where a camera is a deterrent rather than a witness.
